WHY UGANDA?
Uganda is an incredibly beautiful country with warm people, now our family. It has been our home over the last five years. We feel blessed to be able to serve Christ in an open and welcoming nation. Of the 30 million people, Christians are the overwhelming majority with an increasing muslim population. Since our first experiences in Uganda in the early 2000's as university students on mission trips, we have been burdened with a desire to serve the physical and spiritual needs of this developing country. Crystal's first trip to Uganda was the summer of 2000 with her church youth group. She returned to the states to start college at Moody Bible Institute in downtown Chicago, with a passion to return to Uganda as soon as she finished her education. I first visited Uganda in 2001 afer a God-ordained encounter at Trinity International University with Ben Tumuheirwe, a Ugandan student who founded Juna Amagara Ministries, and began serving annually in the country.

It was a process of surrender and submission to the Lord as He brought us together for His purpose to work with Juna Amagara Ministries. Both Crystal and I have a heart for the next generations of Uganda and serve to build up the children and youth in the love and care of Jesus Christ. It is amazing to look back and see how He orchestrated our separate lives with the same passion to become one vision. So after getting married in 2005, we moved across the world to live and work in Uganda with our growing family.

In the first years on the mission field we adjusted and adapted to the community and culture, immersing ourselves into ministry to see people know Christ. This journey of growth has shown us where and how God has designed us to fit into Juna Amagara Ministries. We love the adventure of Africa (most of the time) and the opportunity to make a transforming impact in individual lives that will change the future of Uganda. It is our desire to see the seeds we have planted bear much fruit that will last. Now as our Good Shepherd, God continues to lead us forward and we are committed to stay or go where ever He calls.
